more - command in linux
More command is used for forward scrolling text in screenful at a time in terminal.
syntax
more [file name]
example
MyPrompt:/var/log> more dmesg
press enter to scroll the text
Options
Option | Description |
---|---|
-num | integer value for no of lines in the screen. |
-d | more displays message at bottom of screen with [Press space to continue, 'q' to quit.] |
-l | more will not treats ^L (form feed) as a special character. |
-f | long lines are not folded while displaying text. |
-p | will not scroll, clears the screen and then display the text. |
-c | will not scroll, paints the screen from top and clears the remainder of each line when displayed. |
-s | displays multiple blank line as one line |
-u | Suppress underlining. |
+/ | The +/ specifies a string that will be searched before each file is displayed. |
+num | Start displaying from line number num. |
